Dusk (더스크) is a powerful Gift user and a central ally of Ihwa, the Hero Killer. He was once a former top-tier member of the Hero Clan, recognized as one of its strongest heroes with an impeccable record of service. Ironically, Dusk was betrayed by the clan and became the original target of the secretive Operation Dusk, the infamous purge of so-called "traitors."

Beyond his past within the clan, Dusk was a close friend and ally of Yeon before they were both betrayed by the clan due to Agent Number Seven's machinations. As part of the operation, they were both marked for elimination.

Dusk was first mentioned by Baek-Ji in passing, providing brief information to a departing Ihwa at the end of the Assault on Castle Gray Arc. His full introduction came later in the War of Disbandment Arc. After years of living underground, he officially met Ihwa and, honoring Yeon's final wishes, became her ally in the Villain's war against the clan and Seven. He aided her mission to avenge Yeon before being captured by Seven after a fierce battle with the creature.

Appearance

Dusk is tall man with a strong, lean physique with palish dark skin tone. He has blackish-brown hair and matching eye color, adding to his formidable appearance and face is marked by a large scar over his left eye, hinting at his past battles.

For clothing, Dusk wears a long brown trench coat with a black t-shirt and formal dress pants. He is shown to prefer a classic style of clothing but will also wear casual clothes too. He carries various accessories like his signature lighter and cigars, guns, a decorative watch, and an assortment of knives that complement his days in special operations.

When using his Gift, Dusk's eyes change to darken shade of purple.

Personality

Dusk is a cautious and extremely level-headed man, his vigilance sharpened by his former life in special operations. As a hero, he executed every mission with the precision of a first-rate hunter and warrior, facing opponents with the same unwavering focus, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses.

This mindset persists in his current life as "prey," where he prioritizes survival over reckless confrontation. In his first encounter with Ihwa, he immediately chose to flee rather than risk his life, demonstrating his sharp instincts and adaptability, later stating that,

Highly intelligent and immensely resourceful, Dusk's strategic mind matches his prowess as a former top-tier hero. Beyond his warrior and operative mindset, Dusk is open-minded, with a friendly and relaxed demeanor.

Upon hearing of Ihwa’s adventures in hunting down and killing numerous scummy heroes to avenge Yeon, he laughed at the novelty of her revenge, amused at how she had even survived. Dusk is also considerate, instantly switching her drink from alcohol to soda and pouring it for her without hesitation.

Etymology

• Dusk: The name "Dusk" comes from the Old English word dox or dusca, which referred to the period of twilight between sunset and nightfall. It is related to the concept of "darkness" or "gloom" and has evolved in English to describe the time of day when the light fades, and darkness begins to set in.
• In many literary or fictional settings, "Dusk" can represent a character who is enigmatic, elusive, or a figure who works under the cover of night. It is often used to imply a sense of calm before the storm or a quiet but inevitable change.

• Dusk is assumed to be a former member of the Clan's Special Forces.
• Dusk's Gift was initially thought to be named "Avaarian Edge", however, this was later shown to be a style of swordsmanship from the warrior nation of Avaarin.
• Before their final parting, Yeon once referred to Dusk as a "hero in the limelight" before stating how she had "always walked in the shadows".
  • Yeon's words mirrors her father, Ijincheon's choice of words towards her mother Luenna having referred to her as his "light in the darkness".
