WARNING! |
The Four Swordsmen, previously known as the Five Swordsmen, are four of the most skilled sword fighters in the world that stand at the very pinnacle of swordsmanship.
Currently, the members are The Skysword of Yerim, The Executioner of the Silver Forest, The Last Knight of Rhodos, and The Knight Commander of Avaarin who are each famous across the known world for their sword styles and techniques that set them apart from ordinary wielders.
Overview[]
As a group, the Four Swordsmen are one of the strongest gatherings of warriors in the world that are renowned for their beautiful swordsmanship that is akin to artistry.[1] Although individual members of the swordsmen are some of the most powerful warriors in the world, the criteria for membership in the group is purely their skill with the sword, not necessarily their overall strength.
For example, the Elder Victoria uses a sword and is stronger or on par with at least one member of the Swordsmen, with one of them being her direct subordinate and another being an Elder. However, she does not necessarily have techniques based solely around swordsmanship, nor does her prowess rely on only wielding a sword as she can very well fight barehanded and be just as strong.
While not as influential as a whole as the Elders, they are nonetheless a world-class group, as the membership consists of an Elder, the Skysword of Yerim and before him Yushin of Yerim along with powerful individuals capable of fighting against them.
History[]
Formation[]
A century ago, the four were once known as the Five in the period of the Chaotic Era. However, the roster changed dramatically in the era of Nera.
The Passing of the Executioner[]
The Executioner of the Silver Forest was nearing death as his body was failing from sickness and was challenged by another member of the swordsmen - Yushin of Yerim before his death. The Executioner believed that the Elder would give him a graceful departure and to be a worthy last adversary to face before he dies. After sending his last student into the Sword Purgatory, the Executioner met with Yushin, and they fought each other in one final duel. The full extent and detail of this duel is unknown, but Yushin emerged as the victor.
Upon returning to the real world, the Executioner's student Ijincheon sees his master's clothed skeleton remains. His master's skeleton immediately released a phantom like technique to attack him. Though surprised, Ijincheon easily defends against the attack. His master's spirit, content, offers him one final goodbye, and the skeleton turns into dust.
Ijincheon, grateful, bows his head down before his master's final resting place. It is not known on how much time passed in the real world during Ijincheon's time training inside the Sword Purgatory, but it is likely far from the real passage of time.[2]
Next Generation of Masters[]
Ijincheon went on to establish a fearsome reputation that boasted of unpredictability with his newfound prowess and was eventually counted as a member of the Swordsmen in the years to come after the first Executioner's passing. He became known as the "Sword Hunter" due to his hobby of collecting weapons, particularly swords, from defeated opponents. It's assumed that he became acquainted with Yushin after these events.
Years later, after the destruction of Nera at the hands of the mysterious The Steel Witch, a swordsman known as the Skysword appeared before Yushin after defeating a great number of district lords and challenged him to a duel. After a fierce battle that lasted for more than a week, the man defeated Yushin, who became crippled from the fight and lost his Elder symbol.
The Skysword's reputation skyrocketed, and he built an organization called the Hero Clan based around his fame. In a matter of time, the clan that fought in the name of justice clashed with Nera in what historians would call the War of the Reeds or the Great War which redefine the terms of Heroes and Villains.
Centuries later into the Age of Heroes and Villains, the Knight Commander was attacked by a hero known as Bone Blade in an ambush and was murdered. Bone Blade would steal the Knight Commander's treasured sword in order to wield it for himself. After he was killed, another Knight Commander rose to take his title and was chosen to be his generation's new swordsman.

The commander permits his entry based his strength as the tower's overseer but swears to track the villain down for his role in the capture of his former student, Prosecutor as the Knight Commander of the Four Swordsmen.
During the Invasion of Castle Gray, Ijincheon encountered the Hero Clan's Task Force while they were in the middle of their assignment to assassinate the Smiling Man. When asked by the leader, Dalia Mendoza, on how he acquired his incredible prowess, Ijincheon thinks back on his past and his late teacher, the first Executioner and his time in Sword Purgatory.
