Gifts (선물) are supernatural abilities that are possessed by superhumans who are referred to as "Gift Users". These abilities are produced from a special kind of energy called EST.
History[]
Gifts have always existed alongside humanity, possibly since the very dawn of mankind but almost no one knows anything about the true origins of Gifts as most like Ihwa saw them as a mysterious force. [1]
It's unknown when Gifts started appearing in recorded history, but they have been shown to be present in different parts of the world possibly before the Chaotic Era.[2]
After the end of the Chaotic Era, a new order was created in the world - the Elders. Nine of the most powerful Gift users in the world were elected to become targets of worship and admiration by the general public for their power and the "light" they emanated.[3]
While the existence of Gifts has always been a heavy factor in world events, so far, the vast majority of humanity have been shown to admire Gift users as some even worship them like "gods".
These general views have appeared to largely remain the same throughout the ages as they eventually evolve into present-day terms - Heroes. However, these views easily vary as gift users have been known to be seen as "demons" in more primitive societies and are sometimes killed for it.
Those who abuse their abilities are usually those called Villains and even by those who are considered "Heroes". Some Gift users even view ordinary people as something to look down on for their lack of Gifts or "playthings" to toy with and kill.
Information[]
Gifts have been shown to allow a user to have an incredibly resilient body and an extraordinary longer lifespan than the average human as Gift users retain a youthful appearance as they age slower or stop aging completely at a certain point in their life.[4]
However, this can differ amongst users, with some appearing to be elderly looking person or others appearing to be a preteen. Users are also insensitive to temperature changes compared to humans [5].
Ironically, not many Gift users live long enough to die of natural causes and instead die very young due to numerous conflicts amongst users. Some users can even begin to lose their abilities due to multiple factors like sickness with the case of The Executioner of the Silver Forest[6] or old age like Chaos.
There is wide diversity among Gifts in not just the various types but also how they manifest, even Gifts that look similar to another can differ in how they're activated. According to Engen, there's a commonality amongst Gifts which are often manifested by one's mental/emotional stimulation such as fear, trauma, guilt, yearning, etc.
These psychological factors can empower and enhance a user's Gift as even the littlest to the more severe mental stimulation could make one stronger. However, almost all individuals can experience these mental/emotional stimulation-based events. This implies that not everyone can manifest a Gift. [7]

Conditions[]
Certain Gifts require a condition to be met in order for the user to use them or issue a penalty to their users in case of overuse. It's currently unknown as to why this happens.[8]
Heredity[]
Gifts can be inherited genetically by a child or the offspring of a Gift user. This is seen with the Villains Rachel Sinclair and Bagna. It also appears to be the case even if the one of the parents is an ordinary human without a Gift but it's currently unknown if a child between two Gift users could inherit their parent's abilities or not.
Scar of Vendetta once alluded that Gifts were rarely passed down genetically to their offspring, this was originally thought to be a simple discrepancy and a poor attempt to goad Rachel into a rage during their fight. [9] However this was shown to be the case with Reagan Sinclair, who had numerous children with different wives but rarely did his children inherit his abilities through natural means.
Imbuing[]
A Gift user can imbue their equipment, weapons, and objects with their Gifts and use it as if it were part of their own body.[10] Some Gift users can also imbue their Gifts onto their ammunition.[11]
Breakthrough[]
It is possible for a Gift user to undergo an awakening of their abilities. The cause of this can vary but it was shown that intense feelings of stress or emotions, like that of a life-or-death situation can result in a user gaining a new level of strength and/or new aspects to their ability's nature. [12]
Grafting[]
Gifts and Shards can be artificially grafted on to or implanted into an unpowered human through a scientific process known as the Shard Transplant Experiment. It appears this process was invented during the War of the Reeds by a group of scientists associated with the Hero Clan as they experiment on numerous test subjects. [13]
