Hell (기술) is the Gift used by Engen, the Smiling Man. It allows him to create and control darkness based around the 8 layers of the hot side of Buddhist Hell.
Description[]
Hell enables Engen to create a solidified form of darkness.[1] By default, he is capable of manifesting humanoid creatures or their specific body parts to create groups or an army to overwhelm his opponents, and thanks to their shadow-based properties, that can be utilized to blind an opponent's visuals.
His army can merge into one larger entity, taking the appearance of a large undead woman, which he can mount or hide inside her mouth, or monstrous-looking apparitions to manifest large organisms or objects. While the Gift itself is pure darkness, he can manifest it as a large executioner's sword that allows for further action to manifest stronger techniques.
Usage[]
The darkness of Hell, being solid, is capable of inflicting physical damage, this was shown to be strong enough to knock out [2] or kill people with a few strikes. Engen can create numerous forms of constructs out of the darkness, making constructs as complex as giant humanoid creatures, armies of undead-like creatures, and appendages that all act according to his will with the Gift appearing to take a tremendous amount of control and experience in properly utilizing it to its full potential, especially so at night.
This was first seen when Hero Killer used the Gift to escape from the hero, Victoria by wrapping the Elder in a torrent of darkness but lacked the power to control it in any other fashion.
Similarly to Victoria, Engen can create tangible darkness that allows him to levitate and fly. Aside from his constructs, each of Engen's primary techniques revolves around the 8 layers of hot hells in Buddhism that use an extremely all-rounded combat with versatile move sets.
After climbing the Tower of Milen Kula and gaining a successful Breakthrough, Hell increased to unbelievable heights as Engen expanded and improved his abilities.[3] He can create energy beams of pure immense darkness that sheared apart larger landscapes, manifest his undead-like creatures in a more bipedal manner that can move with greater speed to overwhelm trained soldiers instead of the usual "horde wave" and attained a form of teleportation that can transport him in shorter distances albeit not on the level of Vector's Portal Creation.[4]
But Engen would showcase his new abilities further having gained the ability to create dimensional portals that can summon otherworldly monstrosities, unleash darkness capable of disintegrating matter, and combine it with massive spires to destroy entire landscapes while also channeling Hell itself within his body to unleash dark flames.
Weaknesses[]
The Gift is versatile in its power but has quite a few weaknesses. Hell has a decreased performance when exposed to the sun or light and is highly susceptible to those that can manipulate light-based Gifts like Victoria's A Beautiful Dream, as Sunlight or Light-based Gifts appear to reduce the destructive output of the manifestations of Hell.

Trivia[]
- Hell used to have the color schemes of black and gray shades along with highlights of night blue and cosmic-like star patterns on Engen's manifestations but after climbing the Tower of Milen Kula, the Gift's color was converted to a more purplish appearance.
- The Gift pays homage to the Hot Narakas, the eight great hot hells located on one Cakkavāla in Buddhist sutras.
- Sañjīva, the "reviving" Naraka, has ground made of hot iron heated by an immense fire. Beings in this Naraka appear fully grown, already in a state of fear and misery.
- Kālasūtra, the "black thread" Naraka, includes the torments of Sañjīva. In addition, black lines are drawn upon the body, which hell guards use as guides to cut the beings with fiery saws and sharp axes.
- Saṃghāta, the "crushing" Naraka, is surrounded by huge masses of rock that smash together and crush the beings to a bloody jelly. When the rocks move apart again, life is restored to the being and the process starts again.
- Raurava, the "screaming" Naraka, is where beings run wildly about, looking for refuge from the burning ground. When they find an apparent shelter, they are locked inside it as it blazes around them, while they scream inside.
- Mahāraurava, the "great screaming" Naraka, is similar to Raurava. Punishment here is for people who maintain their own body by hurting others. In this hell, ruru animals known as kravyāda torment them and eat their flesh.
- Tapana, the "heating" Naraka, where hell guards impale beings on a fiery spear until flames issue from their noses and mouths.
- Pratāpana, the "great heating" Naraka. The tortures here are similar to the Tapana Naraka, but the beings are pierced more bloodily with a trident.
- Avīci, the "uninterrupted" Naraka. Beings are roasted in an immense blazing oven with terrible suffering. Life in this Naraka is said to last for the length of an antarakalpa.
