The Hero Candidate Arc is the 2nd story arc of Hero Killer web comic.
Engen assigns Hero Killer the mission of infiltrating the Hero Clan in the midst of their Hero Trials as a candidate. Along the way, she meets many new individuals in the form of those who hope to become inspiring Heroes, infamous Villains that will become obstacles on her path, potential allies, and newer threats.

Story Impact[]
- John Nash is revealed to be miraculously alive after being killed by Chaos in the Nameless' attack.
- Hero Killer learns that Yushin and Engen know each other.
- The stature of the Hero Clan is explained further. There are several lower branches of the clan:
- The Area Guard
- The Underground Heroes
- The Black Hand: The executive branch of the clan's intelligence agency that hold a lot of secrets as they deal with the clan's "dirty work" involving assassinations or underworld dealings.
- Engen proposes a new deal to Ihwa. In the wake of their attack on the clan, he briefly explains his future plans in wanting to stoke the interest of Villains from both those that admire them and those that don't. Engen plans to make all of them kneel towards him and his endeavors.
- Engen, taking advantage of the districts lack of strong ties, assigns Hero Killer the mission of infiltrating the Hero Clan during their annual Hero Trials.
- Ihwa accepts the mission but meanly to accesses the clan's terminal with Chaos' ID card and find information related to her sister.
- Engen promises to fight for Hero Killer in exchange for her completing the mission and she accepts the Smiling Man's offer.
- Ihwa begins a new start in her journey and leaves Dust City.
- The Victoria Express is hijacked by a gang of Villains known as Vendetta.
- Hero Killer meets Philip Neville, a human news reporter and vocal critic of the Hero Clan.
- Hero Killer clashes with Vendetta and its leaders, Tokata and Scar.
- Vector, in his examinations, starts seeing Ihwa someday reaching Engen's level.
- Philip Neville negotiates with Vendetta and convinces them that they out of time.

- Hero Trials': A rigorous exam that inspiring heroes undergo to become members of the Hero Clan.
- Hero License: An official license issued by the Hero Clan for someone to operate as a hero.
- 'Trial Proctors: Entrusted members of the Hero Clan that oversee the trials.
- Victoria Express: An advance locomotive train that runs through various districts.
