WARNING! |
The Hero Clan (히어로 클랜) is an organization of Gift users who are called "heroes" who use their Gifts and abilities to serve and protect humanity against their natural enemies, the Villains.
They are the ruling body over most of the known world and have neutral relationships with the Elders with three of them being members.
However, over time the clan has become corrupted and stagnant, which has been noted by both villains and its members that it's a shell of its former self.
History[]
The Beginning[]
The Hero Clan's very roots were formed and created around the mysterious man known as the Skysword after he challenged Yushin, one of the Elders and the ruler of Yerim, to a duel and defeated him. The man's reputation skyrocketed, and he would build the Hero Clan based on his fame. As a result, the Skysword ascended to become an Elder and also adopted the name Master of the Clan.
The Great War[]
In a matter of time, the clan that fought in the name of justice would clash with the remaining remnants of Nera in what historians would call the War of the Reeds which redefine the terms of Heroes and Villains.
Among thousands of battles that took place, the clan claimed victory in two most vital ones that shifted the tide of the war. As they claimed victory, Nera ceased to exist with the clan going so far as to ban the very name of it from history records.
Hierarchy[]
The Clan is a large, highly complex organization with multiple layers and branches. It appears to be led by a Council on a day-to-day basis with the overall leader being the Master of the Clan.
However, the Elders are exempt from the rules and restrictions that apply to lower-ranking heroes and exist outside of this hierarchy.[1] Additionally, each of the Elders may have an area in which they rule or carry influence over.
Beneath the Elders and senior executives of the Clan are district managers, who are either heroes or members of the clan, in charge of running a district on behalf of the Clan as a whole or an Elder whom they've pledged loyalty to.
Beneath the district managers are individual heroes whose personal ranking is informally determined by several factors.[2]
Special Forces, also known as Ace Heroes, are incredibly strong heroes outside of the clan's normal hierarchy. They are typically the strongest hero in a district, and at least one is posted to every district as an emergency reserve.[3]
Recruitment[]
To officially become a hero, one must apply to an unknown application process through the Hero Clan. Once the applicant has applied information, about the place and date to meet to undergo the Hero Trails will be sent to them. Once gathered at the specified location, the recruits will undergo the Hero Trials. To become a hero, one must pass the trials.
Lower Branches[]
There are several lower branches of the Hero Clan each specializing in a specific area or task. So far only a few members of the branches have been revealed. They were first brought up in a conversation between the Smiling Man, Engen and Hero Killer.[4]
Factions[]
Although the Clan is nominally one unified organization, in practice, Elders wield outsized influence and can carve their own fiefdoms or create their own faction within the clan. In fact, the two most notable and important factions in the Clan were founded by the rival Elders Skysword and Bishop. Skysword, as the Master of the Clan, leads the orthodox faction along with the Council, and while Bishop leads his own renegade faction.
After the Meeting of the Elders and the Villains' Assault on Castle Gray, the rivalry between the Council and Bishop's Faction has exploded into a full civil war within the ranks of the Clan.
During this Civil War, neutral heroes create a third faction informally called Forlorn Hope. Forlorn Hope lacks numbers and combat power but has a good and large information network by working with many of the other branches of the Clan, including the Area Guard, The Legion, and the Underground Heroes.
They aim to recruit indecisive heroes who haven't picked a side yet, genuine heroes who care more about protecting the public rather than maintaining power, and those sympathetic to their cause.
Their goals are to protect the more influential heroes from the Black Hand while also killing their agents and the corrupt heroes who are taking advantage of the infighting alongside those that they deem to be evil.
