I am the destroyer of Evil. I am the apostle dispatched by the lord to purge this place of treachery. It is your grace that bestowed me the power to get stronger through the suffering. Thank you, my lord.

— Paladin's Prayer.

Paladin was a top-tier member of the Hero Clan and a member of their Special Forces the most powerful elites gathered for their combatant prowess. He was the strongest hero in YS Harbor for District 21 and a priest for the Church of Thorns.

It was revealed that he was involved in Operation Dusk over a decade ago but his role in the operation is a mystery. After the Hero Trials, he became the mentor of Chaser, a graduate of the trials.

Paladin was introduced in Nostra City Arc, where the Nameless attempted to assassinate him but ended up clashing against the villainous group alongside the Black Hand.

Appearance[]

Paladin was a tall man with a rather emaciated appearance and red dark hair. His Gift, Pilgrimage of Perseverance can greatly alter his appearance into a much more handsome and muscular form although this change is only temporary for the duration of his Gift.

Paladin's Hero uniform consisted of a long, brown, medieval-like Mantle with yellow borders and shoulder armors. He also wore a symbol of his religion in front of his chest,

Personality[]

Paladin had an incredible sense of justice and appeared to be a man that greatly values his convictions, whether religious or his duties as a hero. He was very religious as he was a devote fellow of a popular religion that worships a god named Daltaris and prayed whenever the opportunity.

He had a code of honor in a similar way to Prosecutor that values the lives of civilians; however, he is more ruthless in his heroic duties. He did not hesitate to kill an opponent if the need arises, but Paladin wasn't a self-righteous man, nor did he stand on moral superiority that "blinded" him in his life as a hero. He also didn't look down nor dismiss the opinions of others who have their own personal codes.

Even with his immense power as a Gift user, he wasn't xenophobic towards humans having accepted Chaser to be his sidekick rather than a powerful talent like Airblast. During his battle with Hero Killer, he expressed concern for Nenya's well being as she was overusing The Torch.

History[]

Paladin's early life remains largely unknown, but he joined the Church of Thorns, presumably as a young man. His life during this period isn't fully known but he eventually became a priest within the church.

Age of Heroes and Villains[]

Paladin later joined the Hero Clan during the Age of Heroes and Villains, adopting the codename Paladin. He rose through the ranks and became a member of the Special Forces, the strongest heroes for the clan and was assigned to YS Harbor, one of the largest clan-controlled Districts as he became its strongest hero.

Operation Dusk[]

Years ago, an unsettling shift took hold within the Hero Clan, culminating in the launch of "Operation Dusk," named after the top-tier hero, Dusk. This covert operation, orchestrated by the clan’s executives, aimed to purge perceived "traitors" within their ranks.

Paladin was involved in the operation, though his exact role remains unknown.[1]

Majesty[]

In the following decade, Paladin frequently clashed with Majesty, the Saint of the Church, over their conflicting ideals of the church's teachings.

The Hero Task Force unexpectedly encounters Ijincheon, the Executioner of the Four Swordsmen. While the Punisher is weary of his sudden appearance to the point of drawing out her Gift, she tells him that the Hero Clan is curious about him and his strength as she briefly remembers his title as "The Incompetent One" amongst the previous Executioner's pupils, but Ijincheon brushes off her questions and tells them not to mind him as he’s just passing through.
