The Previous Knight Commander of Avaarin is a former member of the Four Swordsmen, the strongest swordmen in the world and the greatest swordsman of Avaarin, the warrior nation before he was murdered by Bone Blade, a member of the Hero Clan and current Second Finger of the Black Hand's Fingers.
He was once the former teacher of Saulcai, the Prosecutor of the Hero Clan, whom he molded into a powerful warrior during the hero's youth and childhood. Having acknowledged his student's prowess, the Knight Commander entrusted their people's treasured weapons, The Answerer to his former student.
The Knight Commander made his first appearance in Prosecutor's flashback of his youth during The Torch Arc and his title was mentioned in Shell Knight's brief explanation of the Four Swordsmen in the Nostra City Arc. His successor, the current The Knight Commander of Avaarin was fully introduced at the beginning of the Assault on Castle Gray Arc.

It's unknown when but a man of Avaarin was chosen to be his generation's "Knight Commander" due to his prowess as a swordsman and warrior.
At certain point around the Era of Nera, the Knight Commander became a teacher to a young boy named Saulcai. The Knight molded the talented youth into a powerful warrior, and when Saulcai came of age, the Knight personally gifted his former student his Avaarian helmet. The Knight also entrusted Saulcai with The Answerer, the treasured weapons of their people.[1]

Centuries later into the Age of Heroes and Villains, the Knight Commander was attacked by a hero known as Bone Blade in an ambush and murdered after being stabbed in the back. Bone Blade would steal the Knight Commander's treasured sword in order to wield it for himself and went on to become the Second Finger of Black Hand's The Fingers.[2]
