WARNING! |
The Torch, also known as The Torch of Great Evil, is an ancient shard that holds tremendous power.
Description[]
The Torch, in its early depictions, appeared to be a literal Torch of impressive size. [1]
However, in its true form, The Torch appears to be a creature or entity with vast streams of plant like vines with an eerie single eye of immense size.[2] Its eye was thought to be its only appendage but it also has the ability to form months of a similar size that look like venus fly traps.[3]
It's unknown if this creature or entity has any form of sentience but it was seen acting with an innate instinct of survival like leaving a host when their on the brink of death to infest another.[4]
History[]
The exact origins of The Torch aren't fully known, but the shard was once worshipped and revered according to ancient muriels of individuals that saw it as a "miracle".
Era of Nera[]
The mysterious object was first discovered in a forgotten ruin by a young man who was exploring the ruins towards the end of the Chaotic Era
Upon finding the shard, the young man became the first recorded holder of the ancient object as the shard fused with his body. He would then use its powers to lay waste to the lands and kill the district lords in an act of revenge. Later, the young man founded a dominion that he named "Nera", which meant Torch in the Unknown Language and began a campaign of conquest against the nearby districts as the new nation's king eventually becoming known as "The King of Nera". Through his actions, the world came to know about The Torch and its destructive abilities.
The district lords tried to stop the king's campaign, but they were too late as he had grown too powerful by the time that the lords felt threatened by him. Only the Elders could stop him at that point, but they ignored the man and his ambitions.[5]
However, there was an end to everything. The king's body could no longer endure the capabilities of The Torch and was showing signs of breaking down from within.
War of Inheritance[]
.
With his life coming to an end, the Nera king summoned talented followers that he either abducted or led astray when they were still children and those that showed immense talent who had proven themselves as capable warriors.
The king then made a proposition to his subjects - Whoever that conquers the greatest number of districts until I stop breathing...Shall inherit my throne and all I have. And the War of Inheritance had begun. The war was a series of campaigns against the numerous districts and their lords.
Towards the end of the war amongst the hundreds of his would-be successors, there was one that stood out as the best. Aside from the Nera king, there was another host to The Torch, the powerful master swordswoman Islotta Rainfall, but it's unknown how she gained it.
Islotta would later die during an internal conflict with the king and the King of Nera eventually met his ends as well.
The Torch was shattered by The Steel Witch, seemingly into twelve fragments.[6]

Abilities[]
The Torch, in the simplest terms, is capable of building up an infinite amount of EST in a manner similar to a "fire". In its first showing of combative power, The Torch was able to level and annihilate an entire district through the smallest gesture from its host.
The shard initially grants its host an enormous amount of EST that slowly accumulates within its host's body. If the host is human they are granted abilities on par with Gift users like strength and speed that exceeds them in almost every capacity.
The host will then get use to this new form of power and supply of EST as time passes as there will come a time when the host uses such abundance to enhance either their abilities or an ally's.
